Transfer of Ownership

April 8, 2021, Pewaukee, WI – Symmetrix Software is excited to announce a full ownership transition to Colin Luckmann and Tom Barth. Bill Steiner, founder of Symmetrix Software and Ken Kauer, Vice President, have sold their holdings in the corporation to Luckmann and Barth, who will remain as sole partners. Symmetrix continues its tradition of not taking on outside investors as part of their corporation and are proud to have Colin and Tom as a foundation of leadership for the future.

Symmetrix, in business for 30 years as of April 1st, 2021, continues to be a thought leader and technology provider for a range of global clients. The organization has been built on a culture of teams who are passionate about listening and learning, then designing and delivering software solutions. This ownership transition is grounded in, and will allow Symmetrix to evolve, based on those core principles.

Bill Steiner, Founder and now President Emeritus, and Ken Kauer, Vice President and Solution Architect, are staying with Symmetrix for the foreseeable future and will continue as fulltime development resources. Bill speaks with passion when he says, “Chris (Olsen) and I didn’t start Symmetrix so that we could run a company. We started it because we loved to develop software, and we saw an opportunity to do that on at least partly our own terms.  The notion of inventing or architecting an approach to solving a complicated problem, and then actually building and delivering that solution to a customer that’s not only satisfied, but thrilled with the result is tough to beat. It’s what Ken and I continue to love to this day and we are excited for that to continue.”

Colin Luckmann and Tom Barth will each be taking on the title of ‘Managing Partner’. With these titles, Symmetrix, not a company that is highly stratified or traditionally focused on formalities, does want to make it clear that Colin and Tom are leaders and decision makers of the corporation, but are continually focused on their roles of being solution resources for the Symmetrix clients.

“While we are so proud to carry on as leaders of Symmetrix and will look to evolve Symmetrix internally and for our incredible clients, today is a day of thanks to Bill and Ken for all they have done, and will continue to do for the company”, Luckmann said. “We are positioned strongly for the next 30 years of Symmetrix’s creativity and growth based on our past and our potential.”
